Hevy alternative: Gainr vs Hevy
Hevy is a polished, social workout logger with a generous free plan and an inexpensive Pro tier. Gainr is built around a different idea: an AI coach that plans your training week and adjusts it with you. Here's where each one wins.
Competitor details checked against Hevy's own website and App Store listing as of October 2026. Prices are US prices and may vary by region. Gainr is our product, so weigh our perspective accordingly.

Where Hevy is stronger
Price. Hevy Pro costs $2.99 a month or $23.99 a year, with a $74.99 lifetime option. That's cheaper than Gainr Pro, and Gainr has no lifetime plan.
Community. Hevy says it has more than 17 million users. You can follow friends, see their workouts in a feed, and compare lifts. Gainr has no social features.
Devices and data. Hevy runs on Apple Watch, Wear OS, and the web as well as phones, works offline, and exports your history to CSV. Gainr has an Apple Watch app but no Wear OS or web app, and doesn't offer an export.
Where Gainr is different
A coach that plans the week. Gainr generates a weekly Coach plan from your goal, schedule, session length, equipment, and recent training. When the week changes you can refresh it, move or swap sessions, skip a day, or ask the coach to adjust it in chat.
Hevy Trainer, a Pro feature, also builds a program around your experience, goal, and equipment. Hevy describes it as an algorithm rather than AI, and offers 6-week blocks as one of its variety settings. If you like the idea of guided programming but want to stay with Hevy, Trainer is worth trying first.
Free history. Gainr's free plan keeps your full workout history and progress charts. Hevy's free graphs cover the last 3 months. On the other hand, Gainr's free plan allows only 2 saved custom workouts or programs, while Hevy allows 4 routines.
Switching from Hevy
Gainr can't import a Hevy CSV export yet, so your old history won't carry over. Many people keep their Hevy history for reference and start fresh. Gainr's Coach uses your new logs from the first week onward.
